Welcome to My Personal Page
I am participating in the Great 2020 Hospice Activity Challenge throughout August to raise funds and awareness for Hospice. I started my activity challenge on August 1st with my donation to Hospice and my commitment to walk for 1 hour or more every day this month. I would love to have your support to help me raise money for people living with a life threatening illness from time of diagnosis until their last moments.
My personal goal started at $500 and you helped me get there! So I raised my goal to $750. Together we met this goal. My friends and family are amazing! So let's increase the goal to $1,000.
Hospice is near and dear to me because I have witnessed the amazing support provided to our clients and residents as they live with their illness. From personal experience, I know the value and impact of excellent hospice palliative care. In the early 1990's my father spent his final days in a large, private room in the Barry's Bay hospital. Our family was able to spend long periods of time with him in a comfortable, welcoming environment. Although he was in the hospital, his room was very much like a Hospice.
The rooms at Margaret Bahen residential hospice provide the same comfortable, welcoming environment to our residents and their families. During COVID, we have continued to care for residents while implementing procedures to protect people and our staff. Families and residents have struggled with these changes and our staff have gone above and beyond to provide both medical and emotional support to help people cope.
The compassionate, holistic care provided by our nursing staff, psychosocial staff and our volunteers helps to ease the stress and pain people experience throughout their illness and in their final days. As Coordinator of Volunteers for Doane House Hospice and The Margaret Bahen Hospice for York Region, I am privileged to play a role in supporting our residents, clients and their families. Now, I am excited to raise funds that stay in our communtiy to support people when they are vulnerable.
I invite you to support this Challenge by making a donation. Any amount great or small will help reach our goal!
